This is an IBM System 360 Model 30 operator control panel. A tag on the inside says June, 1965. The "Mod 30" was on the smaller end of the 360 scale. Not the smallest, but far from the biggest. This operator console is housed in a nice oak and morado frame as a wall hanging. Four 16F877 microcontrollers are inside the frame, programmed to flash the lights in a realistic way. Here is a "before" picture. The small black dot on the floor in front of the unit is a PIC 16F84 microcontroller, not a cockroach. Return to The Gallery of Old Iron home page
